There are many ways to get paid as a songwriter.

  1. Mechanical Royalties: Monies paid to a publisher and songwriter from the sales of a recording. For example a CD, Cassette Tape or Online Download.
  2. Performance Royalties: Monies paid to a publisher and songwriter from the performance of the song on radio, television, TV film and cinema. The royalties are paid to a society such as ASCAP or BMI the it is distributed to the songwriters and publishers that are members.
